Sacred Water Science
Preserving Alpine Springs and the Holy Kamrunag Lake
Kamrunag Lake is a classic high-altitude sacred wetlands body. Feeder mountain aquifers are fed by sub-alpine winter snowmelt, which naturally trickles down through pure slate stone layer deposits.
Local legends forbid bathing or washing in the lake. Intriguingly, this spiritual prohibition is backed by water-conservation science: the lake is a closed ecosystem. Introducing synthetic soaps or heavy metal coins harms endemic micro-plankton and clean freshwater cycles.
We encourage visitors to report any spotted plastic waste in surrounding streams immediately. Protecting this water source ensures pristine drinking water for downstream rural villages of Rohanda.
